Medicare 2025 Premium Update

Breaking news : On November 8, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the premiums, deductibles, and co-payments for each part of Medicare in 2025, and the costs of each part have been increased.

1. Medicare Part A (hospitalization insurance)

Premium:

If you earn 40 points, the premium for Part A will still be $0.

But if there are only 30-39 points: the monthly premium increases from $278 to $285 .

If there are less than 30 points: Monthly premium increases from $506 to $518 .

Deductible and Copay :

Hospitalization deductible : Increased from $1,632 to $1,676.

Copay for days 61-90 : Increased from $408/day to $419/day.

Copay for days 91-150 (Lifetime Reserve days): Increased from $816/day to $838/day.

Skilled nursing facility copay for days 21-100 : Increased from $204/day to $209.50/day.

2. Medicare Part B

Base monthly premium : Increased from $174.70/month to $185.00/month.

Deductible : Increased from $240 to $257 .

3. Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA):

IRMAA is adjusted based on income and filing status.

For example, for individuals with an annual income of less than $106,000, the monthly premium is $185.00; for individuals with an income between $106,000 and $133,000, the IRMAA is $74.00, and the total monthly premium is $259.00.

Medicare Part D (prescription drug plan) also has additional costs for people with higher incomes.

It’s important to note that the IRMAA is calculated based on your MAGI from two years ago. For example, your 2025 IRMAA is based on your 2023 income.
